Debian Linux is a popular Linux distribution. Today we will learn how to install the Google Chrome web browser in Debian Linux 10.

First of all open this URL: https://www.google.com/chrome/

Now click on the Download Chrome button.

You will be asked whether you want to download the deb package or rpm. Since we are downloading Chrome for Debian Linux, select the deb package and click on the Accept and Install button. Now this deb file will be downloaded to your computer.

If you have installed Debian with a KDE desktop environment then it will have a Discover Software Management tool. If this is the case, then as soon as you double-click your package file, it will open in Discover or any other GUI package manager.

Installing Google Chrome in Debian Linux from the command line

If you have installed Debian with limited packages and do not have any software like Discover, then you will have to install Chrome via the command line. Let’s see how:

To install any package, you have to log in to the terminal as the root user. Enter command:

su

You will be asked for a password and then you will be logged in as the root user.

Now go to the directory where you have downloaded the deb package and then enter the following command

dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
